2008 Human Race Kicks off with Breakfast
on February 8 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Rafael
SAN RAFAEL, CA – The Center for Volunteer
and Nonprofit Leadership of Marin (Center) invites you to a
breakfast on Friday, February 9 to kick off the 2008 Marin Human
Race which takes place on May 10. The breakfast will be held
at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 101 McInnis Parkway in San Rafael
between 8 am and 9:30 am and is a great way for local businesses,
nonprofits, and interested individuals to learn more about this
county-wide event and how they can help raise funds for their
favorite cause.
Participants can pick up information packets, registration brochures,
and posters, and hear about the changes made for this year’s
race at the breakfast. Agencies registered to participate in
the Marin Human Race before the morning of February 9 will be
eligible for several pecial prize drawings.
The Human Race includes a certified 5-kilometer race course,
Kids’ Races, a community fair, live music from local bands,
free refreshments, giveaways, and fun activities for people
of all ages. Participating agencies get 90% of donations raised.
The Race touches on every aspect of the community. Nonprofits
and schools can earn thousands of dollars for their organizations,
while businesses can support Marin nonprofits and schools through
sponsorships and participation. Individuals can join teams of
runners and walkers to help support the local groups. This year
too the Golden Sneaker Award will be offered. This award will
go to the business that raises the most funds on an average
per team member.
“The Kick-off breakfast is a great way for agencies and
schools to start working on their fundraising activities for
the Human Race. Pick up buttons, posters, registrations, and
be inspired by our guest speakers who will share their successful
fundraising strategies with you,” says Abby Monroe, Events
Coordinator at the Center.
Produced by the Center, the Marin Human Race is organized to
benefit nonprofit agencies across Marin County. It provides
an opportunity for each nonprofit to raise funds for its organization
by recruiting runners or walkers who collect donations and participate
in the race. Free breakfast registration for up to two representatives
from each organization is available online at www.marinhumanrace.org
or by telephone at (415) 479-5710.
